A Loss of Joy – The Death of My Sister

It is amazing in the time that we have started this blog we have already written twice of death that has impacted us. But here I am again. This time the Lord has chosen to bring my sister Heather to himself. If you have never met her, my lovely sister Heather Joy Hare was born in 1978. She was born with Down Syndrome which was no doubt a shock to my parents as she is their first child. I came around four years later and by that time, Heather had already received open heart surgery. Even as a newborn, the Lord…

More Quirky Happenings in the Hare Home

Stacey said my blogs have been a bit heavy recently, so I thought I would go for something light. Here are some more quirky happenings in the Hare home:Kyra has asked to translate the Bible with us, Kaden has made it clear he does not want to help. Twice recently two separate children have pointed to pictures of African American men and thought it was a picture of me. Makyra says at least twice a day, “Daddy I like Oleg and Chad.” Oleg is her uncle and Chad is Chad Armstrong, a college buddy of mine that lived in Dallas…

Yayyy I’m Done!!!!

Whelp, today I finished all of the required classwork for the Certificate of Applied Linguistics at GIAL! This means I have all of the training I need for us to move to Cameroon! We have come so far! Thank you so much for praying for me as I went through the program. I was often studying into the early morning and waking up early for class. It was exhausting and exciting and I could not have done it without your prayers and God’s grace. But we are not done yet. We will have 5 weeks off and then Stacey will…

Current Pics of the Fam

Here’s some pics of the kiddos.  They are doing well overall.  They are very inquisitive and ask us “why?”  all day (along with every other questions under the sun).  They (along with their parents) are thrilled that their dad only has 4 more weeks of school left!!!  We cannot believe how fast Dave’s schooling has gone!  They are lots of fun (and lots of work)!

Quirky Happenings in the Hare Home

When you ask Zoey what her name is, she says, “Elias.” When you ask Elias what his name is, he says, “Zoey.” When we had a not-so-tall repair man come to our house the other day, Kaden kept referring to him as “The Liittle Man.”   “Mom, why is the little man here?”  “Where’d the little man go?” (yiiiiikes!) Zoey regularly puts her dinner on her face and talks on it like it’s a phone. Kaden is abnormally observant.  The other day, while he was in another room, I took my wedding ring off to do Kyra’s hair and the next…

Getting Settled in TX

Here’s a general update on what has taken place over our last week.A week ago we had several friends come over to help us pack and clean our apartment (it was a HUGE blessing!) and then Saturday morning we packed everyone up and started our drive to Texas at 6:30am.We arrived at our new home 19 hours later and then spent the next few days unpacking. And unfortunately, 4 out of the 6 of us have been sick. However, we have been greatly enjoying this new chapter of our lives thus far. We went from intensive partnership development which had us…

We’re Moving in 3 Days!!

This is going to be one of less “wordy” blog posts because we have been busy packing! The kids have not been of much help to us as they seem to think the boxes are exciting new toys…but they sure are cute 😉 Although it’s been a lot of work getting everything in order, we are THRILLED about the journey that is before us! We leave for TX early Saturday morning, will have a couple days to get settled, and then Dave has orientation on January 4th. Linguistics here we come!

General Update on the Hare Family

Always a party in the Hare home—a toddler party that is. Although we have a three bedroom apartment we consistently find our kids always seeking to occupy the exact same space. The love it be piled on top of one another—it is perplexing to us. On top of that, they tickle one another, steal one another’s toys (unfortunately), dance together, and sometimes just laugh in one another’s faces. Like I said…always a party. Here’s a general update on how each member of our family is doing…Makyra is growing up! We are trying to learn how to do her hair and…
